Sabrina Annlynn Carpenter (born May 11, 1999 in Bethlehem , Pennsylvania ) is an American actress and singer . From 2014 to 2017, she played a lead role in the Disney series Life and Riley . She has a recording deal with Hollywood Records and released her debut single Can't Blame a Girl for Trying in March 2014.

Sabrina Carpenter had her first television appearance in January 2011 in the crime series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit . There she plays a young victim who is questioned by Detective Elliot Stabler ( Christopher Meloni ). At about the same time, she performed live at the Gold Mango Audience Festival, which had approximately 11 million viewers on the Hunan Broadcasting System in China. She performed on the song "Something's Got a Hold on Me," originally recorded in 1963 by Etta James . 2012 Sabrina was for a recurring role on the comedy series The Goodwin Games selected as young Chloe, they also played roles in the pilot of the series Gulliver Quinn from Disney Channel and The Unprofessional by ABC . She was one of the main dancers in the computer game Just Dance Kids 2 . In 2013, Carpenter starred as the young Merrin in the Canadian fantasy film Horns , in which Daniel Radcliffe played the lead role.

In September 2013, Carpenter announced that she was working on a film called To Find A Monster . She got her first lead role in a series in the sitcom Life and Riley , the sequel to the ABC series Life and Me , which ran from 1993 to 2000. There she plays the rebellious Maya Hart, the best friend of Riley ( Rowan Blanchard ).

Sabrina Carpenter took part in a nationwide music competition on Miley Cyrus ' website in 2010 and came third. She sang the song Smile on the album Disney Fairies: Faith, Trust And Pixie Dust , which is part of the soundtrack of the fairy tale film The Secret of the Fairy Wings . The song hit the charts on Radio Disney . Furthermore, she was on the soundtrack to Sofia the First - To hear princess once .

Sabrina Carpenter's debut single Can't Blame A Girl For Trying was released on Radio Disney on March 14, 2014 and on iTunes the same day . The song was written by Meghan Trainor , among others . The EP of the same name was released on April 8th and reached number 37 on the Heatseeker charts. In 2014, she and the Disney Circle of Stars recorded a cover version of the song "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" From the film Frozen - Totally Unabashed .

Their first album Eyes Wide Open was released on April 14, 2015. With the single Can't Blame A Girl For Trying , she won a Radio Disney Music Award in 2015 in the category Best Song for Lovers (Best Crush Song). Furthermore, she won in 2016 with her song Eyes Wide Open at the Radio Disney Music Awards 2016 in the category Best Anthem. In 2018 she was nominated at the RDMAs with her song Why in the category Best song for lovers (English Best Crush Song), but lost to Ed Sheeran.

On March 18, 2019 it was announced that Carpenter had recorded a song with Alan Walker & Farruko called On My Way .
