action

When Sofia's mother marries the king, her life changes from one day to the next. From now on she lives in a castle and has to learn what it means to be a real princess. Sofia is taught by the three loving fairy tale fairies Flora, Fauna and Sunshine from the Disney classic Sleeping Beauty in matters of courtesy, mercy, kindness and self-confidence. King Roland even gives her an amulet that gives her magical abilities. So she can talk to animals and quickly makes new friends like Kalle the rabbit. In between, she meets the well-known Disney princesses who give Sofia advice. Sofia quickly learns that while looking like a princess isn't very difficult, truly acting like a princess has to come from the heart.

reception

The character Sofia was incorrectly introduced as Disney's first Latina princess in October 2012 during a press tour due to a linguistic error by producer Jamie Mitchell. Later, Disney Junior Worldwide Senior Vice President Nancy Kanter made it clear that "Sofia is a fairy tale girl who lives in a fairy tale world. All of our characters from Fantasy Land can reflect elements of different cultures and ethnicities, but are not supposed to reflect specific realities Represent world cultures. " In reality, Sofia has a mixed genetic makeup, as a Disney spokeswoman wrote: "... Sofia's mother, Queen Miranda, was born in a fictional land called Galdiz, a place of Latin American roots. Miranda met Sofia's father, Birk Balthazar, who was from came from the Kingdom of Freezenberg, and together they moved to Enchancia, where Sofia was born. "
