Sarah Silverman
Sarah Kate Silverman (born December 1, 1970 in Bedford , New Hampshire ) is an American comedian , actress and writer . Her work often focuses on taboos and prejudices. Many punch lines have a racist, religious or sexual background, for example the Holocaust , homosexuality or discrimination against minorities.
Life
She is the daughter of Jewish immigrants Donald and Beth Ann Silverman and sister of Susan Silverman-Abramowitz (rabbi and author of the book Jewish Family & Life: Traditions, Holidays, and Values for Today's Parents and Children ), Laura Silverman (also an actress) and Jody Speyer (screenwriter). She stepped into individual episodes of numerous television series, including Seinfeld , Frasier , Monk or Star Trek: Voyager , on.
Sarah Silverman worked as an actress and writer for Saturday Night Live in 1993/1994 . However, she was released after only one season because only one of her skits had made it into the recording rehearsals and not a single one had made it into the broadcast program. This was parodied by her in 1996 in the episode The New Writer on the Larry Sanders Show , in which Silverman played the same new author in a guest role. For Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic (musical / stand-up comedy, USA 2005) she wrote the script and played the lead role. She had supporting roles in the films The Way of the Gun , Crazy About Mary , Love by Express , School of Rock , Evolution , Rent and Der Date Profi, among others .
With the comedy series The Sarah Silverman Program, which started in the USA in February 2007 . she had her own show on Comedy Central until 2010. Also in 2007 she hosted the MTV Movie Awards .
From 2002 she was in a relationship with Jimmy Kimmel , an American television presenter. In early 2008, Silverman's music video I'm fucking Matt Damon , which has since been viewed over eleven million times, caused a sensation in the American comedy world. As a guest on her partner Jimmy Kimmel's late night show, she “confessed” her alleged relationship with Matt Damon . The background to the mock fling was the fact that Kimmel had made fun of Matt Damon for a long time on his show by saying regretfully at the end of the show that once again he had no time for Matt Damon. In retrospect, Jimmy Kimmel returned the favor to Sarah Silverman and Matt Damon with his own video entitled: I'm fucking Ben Affleck . The couple separated in July 2008. According to People magazine , they should have reconciled in October; in March 2009, however, the final separation took place. From 2014 to the end of 2017 she was in a relationship with actor Michael Sheen .
In 2008 Silverman got involved in the American presidential election campaign for the Democrats by calling on young Jewish adults to convince their grandparents in Florida to vote for Barack Obama in a video . This action called The Great Schlep was intended to secure the large Jewish electorate in the important state of Florida. On April 20, 2010, Silverman's first book, The Bedwetter , was published in the United States .
In 2018 she was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
