The mining trade association was the trade association for mining companies in Germany until 2010 . It was founded in the 19th century as a Knappschafts professional association. Most recently, the Bergbau-BG had its headquarters in Bochum . It had 257 member companies with 93,000 policyholders. The trade association itself employed 660 people.

On January 1, 2010, the mining trade association merged with other trade associations to form the trade association for raw materials and chemical industry .
