Mr. Show with Bob and David (short: Mr. Show ) was an American television series developed by comedians Bob Odenkirk and David Cross . It aired on HBO from 1995 to 1998 and has remained iconic to this day. Many well-known actors and comedians appeared in its four seasons, including Jack Black , Sarah Silverman , Tom Kenny , Mary Lynn Rajskub and Dino Stamatopoulos .

Each episode consists of a series of skits linked by transition scenes, similar to Monty Python's Flying Circus . The show's humor featured absurd themes. For example, one sketch was about a man auditioning for a role in which a man auditioning for a role. Another sketch was about a man who has returned from an expedition from Mount Everest and cannot tell his story to his family because he keeps tripping over a chair.

Awards

Mr. Show was nominated for a total of four Emmys in the categories of script for a variety or music program (1998, 1999), light direction for a comedy series (1999) and music and lyrics (1998). The third season DVD release was nominated for a Satellite Award 2004 for Best DVD Release on TV Show .
