Paul Francis Tompkins (born September 12, 1968 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American comedian and actor .

life and career

Tompkins was born the son of a receptionist and a railroad worker.

In 1986 he started stand-up comedy at The Comedy Works in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , where he formed a duo with the late Rick Roman. In 1994 he moved to Los Angeles . Through his friend Adam McKay , he met fellow actor Jay Johnston know and founded Live - Sketch - Show The skates .

Tompkins had roles in television series such as Frasier , Weeds - Small Deals Between Neighbors or Pushing Daisies . In 2007 he played the role of Prescott alongside Daniel Day-Lewis in the drama There Will Be Blood . In 2009, he starred opposite Matt Damon , Melanie Lynskey and Ann Cusack in Biography - Comedy - Crime film The Informant! the role of FBI Special Agent Anthony D'Angelo . In the Netflix animated series BoJack Horseman , he spoke in the original Mr. Peanuttbutter from 2014 to 2020 .

Since April 24, 2010, Tompkins has been married to fellow actress Janie Haddad Tompkins .
