Greg the Bunny is an American doll sitcom that parodies Sesame Street , the Muppet Show, and other children's puppet shows. The focus is on the bunny Greg, a small hand puppet, and his philanthropist Jimmy, played by Seth Green .
background
Greg the Bunny was originally a sketch series in the half-hour amateur comedy series "Junktape," produced by Dan Milano, Spencer Chinoy and Sean S. Baker. The US broadcaster Fox soon became aware of the success of the series and produced a professional comedy show with stars such as Seth Green , Eugene Levy and Sarah Silverman . This series was based on the Muppet Show , behind the scenes of a show of the same name.
The first season with 13 episodes was broadcast by Fox in 2002. Initially, no further episodes were ordered, only from 2005 onwards two further seasons with 14 and 5 episodes were broadcast by the Independent Film Channel . The series was broadcast in German on Comedy Central Germany from 2007 .
Characters
- Greg the Bunny is a simple hand puppet and star of the show . He is a rabbit doll who is very proud of his doll family. According to the IFC, Greg is the son of a human father and a doll mother.
- Jimmy Bender , played by Seth Green, is Greg's best friend. He first appeared in the show produced in 2002.
- Warren the Ape is a monkey hand puppet. In addition to his alcohol and cigarette addiction problems, he portrays himself as an experienced author and refuses to appear on the show. The reason for this is his lack of stage experience.
- Alison Kaiser is the show's manager. In addition, Warren's love is great, but the monkey always fails with her.
- Gil Bender is Jimmy's father and producer on the show.
- As you can see from the name, Graf Blah is a parody of Graf Zahl from Sesame Street. He appears as an experienced actor who is characterized by a small language problem. Besides Greg and Warren, he's the only character who's been around since the first sketches were made.
