Jürgen Schmieder (* 1979 in Tirschenreuth ) is a German journalist, columnist and writer. He writes for the Süddeutsche Zeitung and has written books on self- experiments. His book You shall not lie! became a bestseller .

Live and act

Jürgen Schmieder comes from Tirschenreuth in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria. After high school he began studying German literature , economics and media studies in Regensburg , where a study which film studies in Michigan , USA and the cultural journalism at the film school in Munich joined.

He works as a columnist as well as editor and online editor for the Süddeutsche Zeitung , and has been a reporter in the United States since 2013 . His most successful column is My Belly Is Mine . He also writes regularly about sports.

Schmieder is married and has one son.

Schmieder became known to a wider audience through his books, Thou Shalt Not Lie! became a bestseller. In his books he describes self-experiments and thus investigates the extent to which reality and fiction are interwoven in everyday life.
