The Vamps is a four-piece British pop rock band . It was founded in 2012 and consists of Bradley Simpson from Birmingham , James McVey from Bournemouth , Connor Ball from Aberdeen and Tristan Evans from Exeter .
Band history
James McVey met Brad Simpson through YouTube in 2011 and they both began writing songs together. The following year, they met Tristan Evans on Facebook and a mutual friend connected them to Connor Ball. The four formed a band and uploaded cover songs to their own channel on the video platform YouTube.
At the end of 2012, the four musicians were signed by the record company Mercury Records . With her support as the opening act for McFly on their Memory Lane Tour in early 2013, the number of fans grew rapidly. This was followed by other appearances at festivals and in support of bands such as The Wanted , JLS , Little Mix and Lawson .
On July 22, 2013, the band released their first song, Wild Heart, on their YouTube account. In early August, the official music video for their debut single Can We Dance was released there , which had over a million views in two weeks. The single was released on September 29, 2013 and then rose to number 2 in the UK Top 40 . With the previously released Wild Heart and Last Night , they had two more top 3 hits in the following months. Last Night was also the pre-release single for the debut album Meet the Vamps . At the end of April 2014, it reached number 2 on the British album charts. On April 1, 2016, Can We Dance became the first vamps single to go gold in the UK for 400,000 sales.
In February 2015 they founded their own label Steady Records . Here they recorded two new bands, The Tide and New Hope Club , which they had founded themselves.
On November 27, 2015, they released their second album Wake Up , from which songs like Wake Up and I Found a Girl come from.
In 2016 they recorded Kung Fu Fighting for the new Kung Fu Panda movie. In the same year they also traveled to India and worked with the Indian music duo Vishal Shekhar for the song Beliya .
