Matoma (born May 29, 1991 in Åsnes ; real name Tom Stræte Lagergren ) is a Norwegian DJ and music producer from Tropical House .

biography

Lagergren started playing the piano as a child and won a competition that let him play with Håvard Gimse and Leif Ove Andsnes . He grew up playing the classical piano before turning to music editing on the computer. Matoma Steinberg uses Cubase audio software for music editing .

After studying music technology, he received a bachelor's degree from the Technical and Scientific University of Norway .

The remix Free Fallin Tropical Mojito Remix (John Mayer Tribute) produced with Tropical House musician Nelsaan was released on Matomas 23rd birthday.

After Marlon Roudette's When the Beat Drops Out was released in July 2014, Universal Germany commissioned Matoma to do a remix. Marlon Roudette - When The Beat Drops Out (Matoma Tropical Remix) was released in August 2014.

In the summer of 2014, hypem.com gave Matomas Remix Old Thing Back from One More Chance from The Notorious BIG a top rating on a music blog , which gained international recognition. Record labels, including Big Beat Records , as well as musician Ja Rule , who was involved in "Want the Old Thing Back" , gave their approval. In March 2015, the song was subsequently released as a single and entered the music charts of some countries.

After the release of Hedegaard's single Happy Home , Matoma agreed with him to produce a remix. This was released by Copenhagen Records in September 2014. In October, Matomas Remix was released by Eminem's Business . In that month Warner Music Norway also released the second jointly produced remix of Marit Larsen - I Don't Want To Talk About It - produced by Matoma and Nelsaan . In January 2015, Matoma's remix of MYNGA Feat. Cosmo Klein - Back Home released.

In total, Matoma published more than 33 remixes on his Soundcloud page, including, in addition to single releases, a remix of Enrique Iglesias' Bailando , which he created at his request.
