DRAM , real name Shelley Marshaun Massenburg-Smith (born August 3, 1988 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ), is an American rapper .
Life
Massenburg-Smith was born in Germany . However, he grew up in Hampton, Virginia .
Career
He first drew attention to himself under the name DRAM - the abbreviation stands for "Does Real Ass Music" - in 2014 with the song Cha Cha . First it became a hit in his home state of Virginia , then it picked up a radio station from Cleveland and finally Beyoncé discovered the piece and released his own version. With Cha Cha , DRAM was able to place itself in the Hot R&B Songs of Billboard .
The rapper had his nationwide breakthrough in mid-2016 with his song Broccoli together with Lil Yachty . The song reached number 5 on the Billboard charts and number 1 on the rap charts in America.
