Astrid S (2019)

Astrid S (born Astrid Smeplass in Berkåk , Rennebu , October 29, 1996 ) is a Norwegian pop singer . She became famous in 2013 for her participation in the Norwegian version of the talent show Pop Idol .

Career

Smeplass began playing the piano and singing at a young age . In 2013, at the age of 16, she took part in the casting show Idol and finished fifth in the competition. In this context, she released her first single Shattered . A year later she dropped out of high school to concentrate on her career as a musician. In 2015 the single 2AM was released , for the first time under the stage name Astrid S ; the remix by Norwegian DJ Matoma made the song popular. Together with Shawn Mendes , the singer also recorded the song Air for his debut album Handwritten . In 2016 the singer appeared as the opening act at Troye Sivan's European concerts and released an EP named after her .
