Troye Sivan
Troye Sivan (born June 5, 1995 in Johannesburg , South Africa ), actually Troye Sivan Mellet , is an Australian singer , YouTuber and actor . He played the young James Howlett in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and starred in the Spud series . In 2014 he signed a recording deal with Universal , his debut album Blue Neighborhood was released in 2015.
Life
Sivan was born in Johannesburg. When he was two years old, his family moved to Perth , Australia. He has an older brother, Steele, and two younger siblings, Sage and Tyde Levi, who is also a YouTuber and works in the music field. Sivan is Jewish and was homeschooled .
In 2006, 2007 and 2008 Sivan appeared as a singer on the Channel Seven Perth Telethon . In 2006 he sang there in a duet with the Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian . Sivan made it to the 2007 Starsearch grand finale. His debut album Dare to Dream was released in February 2008. It contains the five tracks There's a Hero , Angels Brought Me Here , Somew here Over the Rainbow , Unsung Hero and The Prayer . On September 20, 2008, Sivan sang at the opening of Storm the Stage at the Burswood Entertainment Complex. On April 3, 2009, the music video project "For Them (You can help!)" Appeared on Youtube, which draws attention to street children worldwide. In February 2010, Sivan contributed to the charity music video We Are The World 25 for Haiti (YouTube Edition) , produced by Lisa Lavie , to raise funds for the victims of the Haiti earthquake . The video, on which 57 artists worked, begins with Sivan's appearance.
In 2007 Sivan starred as Oliver Twist in a production by Oliver! in the Regal Theater.
In February 2009, Sivan starred as James Howlett in X-Men Origins. Sivan got the role after videos of his Telethons appearances were posted on YouTube. As a result, he got the attention of a Hollywood agent who contacted Sivan and asked him to send a voice sample. Sivan got the role after the intended Kodi Smit-McPhee was canceled due to his involvement in the film The Road .
In 2008, Sivan starred in the Western Australian short film Bertrand the Terrible .
In July 2009 he successfully applied for the leading role in Spud , a film adaptation of the 2005 novel of the same name by the South African author John van de Ruit . The shooting took place from the beginning of March to mid-April 2010 in South Africa.
As of March 2010, Sivan played at a theater in Western Australia in Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot . Sivan took on the role of the delivery boy at every second performance during the season . In the remaining performances, this role was played by Craig Hyde-Smith.
In June 2012, Sivan returned to South Africa to star in the movie Spud 2: The Madness Continues , which was released in South Africa on June 21, 2013. On June 22, 2013, the film adaptation of Spud 3 was started.
After publishing a few music videos on his YouTube channel since 2007, he started vlogging on August 26, 2012 . On August 7, 2013, Sivan published a coming-out video on his YouTube channel in which he declares that he is not ashamed of his homosexuality and asks his fans for understanding and tolerance.
On August 15, 2014 his first EP TRXYE was released, which was able to place in the charts of many countries in advance by pre-ordering. The single Happy Little Pill , which was pre-released on July 25, 2014 , also reached the top 10 of the iTunes charts in many countries . In early September 2015, Sivan's second EP Wild followed , from which the singles Wild and Fools were released with music video. The two videos together with the one for the single Talk Me Down form the trilogy Blue Neighborhood , which is also the title of Sivan's first album, which was released on December 4, 2015.
His international breakthrough came with the single Youth , with which he won a total of two ARIA Awards . a. for the "Song of the Year". Billboard (magazine) placed Youth at # 11 of the 100 Best Pop Songs of 2016.
Sivan is primarily committed to the LGBT * community. Sivan was dating the American model Jacob Bixenman, with whom he lived in Los Angeles , from 2016 to 2020 .
