Lauv
Lauv (born August 8, 1994 in San Francisco , California , real name Ari Staprans Leff ) is an American musician and singer of Latvian descent.
Career
In his childhood he played the piano , viola and guitar . He began his career at the age of 14 and initially wrote songs for other artists. He studied music technology at New York University Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development . In 2016 and 2017 he wrote several songs for well-known musicians, including Cash Cash , Charli XCX , Cheat Codes and Demi Lovato .
His debut - EP Lost in the Light appeared in 2015. This more singles were released. After the single The Other was re-released in early 2017 with several remixes and an acoustic version , it was successful on Spotify worldwide, but could not record any chart success. He then released the follow-up single I Like Me Better on May 19, 2017 , which first hit the charts in Europe and finally worldwide in the summer of 2017. It was remixed by Cheat Codes and Ryan Riback .
Lauv was in October and November 2017 support act for Ed Sheeran on the Divide tour for fourteen performances in Asia.
His stage name Lauv, which means Leo in Latvian , pays homage to his zodiac sign.
Private life
In 2018, Lauv was in a relationship with singer Julia Michaels for several months before the couple separated at the end of the year.
In an interview with Rbb24 in March 2020, Lauv stated that his sister and a friend sent him to a psychologist who diagnosed him with depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
His mother and maternal grandparents are of Latvian descent.
