Shape of You
Shape of You was written by Sheeran with Johnny McDaid and Steve Mac . The song was originally written for the singer Rihanna , but Sheeran, McDaid and Mac decided while the song was being made to have it performed by Sheeran instead. Because the rhythm of the song is similar to the song No Scrubs by the band TLC , the authors of No Scrubs , namely Kandi Burruss, Tameka Cottle and Kevin Briggs, are listed as co-authors of Shape of You .
Galway girl
Sheeran wrote the song Galway Girl with the Irish band Beoga . In Galway Girl of extracts found in the Beoga-piece Minute 5 of the album how to tune a fish (2011) again. The line "She Played the fiddle in an Irish band" (dt .: You played the fiddle in an Irish band ) refers to the fiddle player from Beoga, Niamh Dunne. The rest of the song is made up, however.
Castle on the Hill
Sheeran sings from his hometown of Framlingham in Suffolk at the song Castle on the Hill . With the "castle on the hill" is meant the Framlingham Castle standing there .

Commercial win
The album entered the album charts in more than 20 countries. In the UK , Sheeran's homeland, the album sold more than 670,000 copies in the first week. This makes it the fastest-selling album in the country after Adeles 25 (800,307 sales in the first week) and Oasis ' Be Here Now (696,000 sales in the first week).
In Germany, Sheeran managed to enter the top positions in the charts with two singles at the same time, something that had never happened in the history of the German music charts , which have been published since 1953. In addition to Shape of You , the Brit made it to second place with Castle on the Hill . For Ed Sheeran it is the first number one hit in Germany. The British author Steve Mac , who was involved in the creation of both songs, managed to drive himself off the top of the charts for the first time in Germany.
