Johnny McDaid (born July 24, 1976 in Derry , Northern Ireland ) is an Irish producer , DJ , songwriter and singer .

McDaid has written for Snow Patrol , Iain Archer, Declan O'Rourke, Tonio K, Freelance Hellraiser, Helen Boulding, and Bryn Christopher . He wrote the theme song for the film House of Fools , whose director Eva Isaksen was nominated for an Oscar , and produced and wrote songs for Sony BMG , Universal , EMI , PIAS, Mushroom and Capitol Records . He worked with Paul van Dyk , among others , and was with the song Time Of Our Lives , a single from Paul van Dyks Grammy-nominated album Reflections (1999). With the number 1 Club Chart Song Home (with Paul van Dyk) he won the 2009 Trance Award in the category "Best Song".

He is currently working with artists Karima Francis, Gary Go , Joe Echo, Tim Myers from One Republic , Example , Rosi Golan and Paul van Dyk for his upcoming album. In 2011 he wrote a song for the Eurovision Song Contest winner Lena Meyer-Landrut called I like You (with Rosi Golan) in the program Our Song for Germany , which did not make it to the finals. He often appears on tours and on radio shows with Snow Patrol . He plays keyboard and guitar and sings. McDaid mixes and records with the SSL matrix desk. He has been in a relationship with actress Courteney Cox since 2014 .

In 2017, McDaid made it to the top of the German single charts for 15 consecutive weeks as the author of Ed Sheeran's Shape of You . The single was awarded a diamond record for over one million units sold within five months , making it one of the best-selling singles in Germany .

In August 2017 he was at the single What About Us by Pink involved as co-author.
