No Scrubs ( German: "Keine Schmarotzer" ) is a song from 1999 that was successfully interpreted by the US trio TLC . The song received at the MTV Video Music Awards 1999 , the award Best Group Video , and was at the Grammy Awards 2000 in the category Record of the Year nomination. The Songs of the Century (song of the century), a list of American songs, 2001 by the Recording Industry Association of America was created (RIAA) and published, reached No Scrubs place 361st

Content and background

No Scrubs was released as a single on January 23, 1999 by LaFace Records . The song was written by former Xscape members Tameka Cottle and Kandi Burruss, while Kevin Briggs produced the song.

In the song, a woman describes her displeasure with parasites and expresses that she does not want to have parasites around.

Chart placements

No Scrubs reached the top 10 of the single charts in Germany as well as in Switzerland. In the United Kingdom, the song made it to number three, which is TLC's best placement in the British singles charts to date. No Scrubs hit number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 , and it was TLC's third number one hit there to date. In total, he was able to hold onto the top position for four weeks. Further number-one placements were achieved in Australia and New Zealand .
