Grammy Awards 2000
The 42nd Grammy Awards took place on February 23, 2000 in the newly built Staples Center in Los Angeles, which has been the permanent venue for this event from then until it took place in Madison Square Garden in New York City in 2018 .
The big winner of the evening was Carlos Santana and his band, who received eight Grammys, which only Michael Jackson did in 1984 .
A total of 98 Grammys in 28 categories and five honorary grammies for life's work were awarded.
