In addition to the standard release of the CD album, Supernatural was also released as double vinyl (180 gram LPs) and on CD singles or EP singles with almost all the songs from this album as well as concert DVDs. At least two of the multiple concert recordings from the 2000 Supernatural tour are considered legally released DVD releases. A so-called guitar camera was used at a club concert, which provided detailed video scenes of Santana's guitar solos.

The album received mostly positive reviews from music critics . In almost all reviews, the title Do You Like The Way with Lauryn Hill falls slightly below the other tracks. [It] is just full blown hip-hop and R&B writes Sputnik Music about it.
The Laut.de editorial team awarded 4 out of 5 possible stars and praised the versatility of the album as well as the many guest contributions on the album.
Stephen Thomas Erlewine also gave Allmusic 4 out of 5 possible stars and said that the songs were very good, but due to a missing lead voice and the many different guest contributions, he missed a little consistency.
The alternative music magazine Whiskey Soda awarded the school grade 1 and wrote about the album that it was an excellent comeback, but still had some gaps.
Rezensator.de thinks about the album that Santana tries to transition to other music styles by including younger artists, but does not always manage to do so. Nevertheless, the album is described as an "outstanding comeback" and receives six out of ten points.
The Rolling Stone Ruled Some titles prove that Santana is supernaturally graceful without receiving too much help from anyone. Who could not allow such an enduring guitar god a big, star-studded shot at the living la vida loca? ( [Some] tracks prove that Santana remains supernaturally graceful without too much help from anyone. Who could begrudge such an enduring guitar god another big, star-studded shot at living la vida loca? ) And awarded 3.5 out of 5 stars.
