Maria Maria reached first place on the music charts in many countries, including the USA, Germany and Switzerland. The title was awarded a Grammy and a platinum rating. The bestseller list of the US Billboard charts reached Maria Maria 14th place and stayed in the United States ten weeks at the highest point.

Maria Maria was written and composed by The Product G&B, Carlos Santana and Wyclef Jean . The executive producer is Clive Davis . The title became the second single from Santana's album Supernatural after Smooth .

Emergence

Shortly after they were founded, Wyclef Jean The Product G&B suggested recording Maria Maria with Mexican guitarist Carlos Santana . Santana herself had not been able to place any chart hits in Germany since the times of Black Magic Woman and Oye Como Va in the early 70s . The four produced the song that initiated Santana's comeback.
