Oye Como Va

Oye Como Va is a song written by Latin jazz and mambo musician Tito Puente in 1963 , and produced and published by Jack Fishman and Michael Linn . The title and lyrics of the song were inspired by the song Chanchullo, written in 1937 by the Cuban bassist Cachao López .

The title means in German about "Hey, how is it" (literally: "Listen, how is it?" Or "Listen, how it works [my rhythm]").

A well-known cover version is by Carlos Santana , who released the song on his album Abraxas in 1970 . With the song, Santana reached number 13 in the Billboard Top 100 and number 11 in the Easy Listening Charts as well as number 32 in the R&B charts. Other cover versions are from Celia Cruz and The Salsa Brothers .
