Francis Dunnery (born December 25, 1962 in Egremont , Cumbria , England ) is a British musician and was a founding member of the northern English band It Bites . Although he started out as a drummer in the band , he became the group's singer and guitarist until he left in 1990.

biography

It Bites released a total of five studio albums, the first three with Dunnery as the singer: The Big Lad in the Windmill (1986), Once Around the World (1988) and Eat Me in St Louis (1989). The musical style of the band is best described as progressive rock with pop music elements. Particularly characteristic are the instrumental intermediate parts in many pieces with complex arrangements, mostly also in terms of rhythm, as well as Dunnery's concise, very special vocal timbre. It Bites' last album Thank You and Goodnight, a live recording, was released in 1990. Her best known single is Calling All The Heroes from the debut album. The song reached number six in the UK Top 40 .

After Dunnery left It Bites, he worked as a solo musician. He released several albums. His most successful single as a solo artist is American Life in the Summertime from the album Fearless (1994).

Dunnery turned down a request to join the band Genesis after Phil Collins left the band. He accompanied the former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant on his "Fate of Nations" world tour 1993-1994. Dunnery played studio sessions for Lauryn Hill , Elton John and many others. Also for Carlos Santana on his album Supernatural . Dunnery also wrote some tracks with Ian Brown and also played guitar for his album Music of the Spheres. He regularly gives living room concerts to his fans at home all over the world.
