The 2017 Grammy Awards were held on February 12th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles . It was the 59th award of the most important US music award, with which musicians, songwriters and other successful players in the music business are recognized. The 2017 award was based on publications between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016. The nominations were announced on December 6, 2016.

The big winner of the awards was the British singer Adele , who won five times with her album 25 and the song Hello , including in the three main categories for album, song and single of the year. Also five posthumous awards went to David Bowie and his last album Blackstar . In addition to the rock and alternative genre categories, it was also recognized for technology and design. Chance the Rapper underscored his victory in the newcomer category with two more rap Grammys. Nine times nominated Beyoncé received only two awards, one of them for the music video for Formation . Other two award-winning musicians were Drake , Lalah Hathaway , John Scofield , Hillary Scott , Sarah Jarosz and Jacob Collier .

The only German award winner was Dorothea Röschmann in the category Best Classical Solo Singing Album for Schumann & Berg , which she recorded with piano accompaniment from Mitsuko Uchida .

Megadeth received their first Grammy 26 years after their first nomination on the twelfth attempt. There were even 42 years between the first nomination for the song Jolene by Dolly Parton and this year's award. The new recording with Pentatonix earned her the eighth Grammy out of 48 nominations.
