Jerzy Fitelberg

Jerzy Fitelberg (born May 20, 1903 in Warsaw , † April 25, 1951 in New York City ) was a Polish composer.

Fitelberg had first lessons from his father Grzegorz Fitelberg and then studied at the conservatories in Warsaw and Moscow. From 1922 to 1926 he was a student of Walther Gmeindl and Franz Schreker at the Berlin Academy of Music .

In 1933 he emigrated to Paris and in 1940 moved to New York. He composed a. a. three orchestral suites, a ballet, several violin concertos, a cello, a clarinet and a piano concerto, a rhapsody for four pianos, chamber music works (including five string quartets) and piano pieces.
