Twenty One Pilots (proper spelling: Twenty One Pilots or Twenty One Pilots , abbreviation: TOP ) is an American musician - Duo from Columbus , Ohio .
history
The band was formed in 2009 and today consists of Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun . Other former members were Nick Thomas (bass, piano, keyboard; vocals) and Chris Salih (drums).
Twenty One Pilots released the albums Twenty One Pilots (2009) and Regional at Best (2011) before being signed to the Fueled by Ramen record label in 2012 , which has also been recognized for the success of bands like Panic! at the Disco and Paramore is responsible.
Her third studio album, Vessel , was released in 2013 and was very successful. With their fourth album, Blurryface , which was released in May 2015, the duo achieved their international breakthrough. It entered the German, Austrian, Swiss and British charts. In the USA, the album reached number 1 in the album charts with almost 150,000 records sold. The album Blurryface received the award of most successful rock album of the decade of 2010 at the end of 2019. In June 2016, they released the song Heathens , which became one of their greatest commercial hits and was used as the soundtrack for the film Suicide Squad . Her fifth album Trench , which contains 14 tracks, was released in October 2018 .
For the song Stressed Out , Twenty One Pilots were recognized at the Grammy Awards 2017 for best pop performance by a duo / group . In 2017 they were also nominated for the Billboard Music Awards and won them in the categories of Best Rock Song , Best Rock Artist , Best Duo / Group , Top Radio Songs Artist and Billboard Music Chart Achievement .
During the COVID-19 pandemic , Twenty One Pilots released the song Level of Concern , which was written while the two musicians were in complete self-isolation. The song includes the COVID-19 pandemic and is intended to spread hope during this difficult time.
Fan base
The band's fan base is known as the Skeleton Clique ( clique for short ). Your logo consists of two long lines with three short ones overlapping the long ones. The left figure has an alien-like head (this figure is supposed to represent Josh Dun), the right one has a skeletal head (this figure is supposed to represent Tyler Joseph).
