As it turned out later, the tweet is one line of the song. The following day it was officially announced that he was being recorded for the soundtrack of the action movie Suicide Squad . The film is part of the villain film series Suicide Squad . The soundtrack was officially released on August 5, 2016.
Emergence
In an interview, Tyler Joseph commented on the making of the song as follows:
“When I wrote the lyrics, I wanted to make it a Twenty One Pilots song. And I wanted it to harmonize with our fans and make sense in our performances. Even though the themes in the film inspired us to begin with, the lines just came together and when it merged with the music I realized that this is our song. "
content
The title alludes to paganism . From a Christian point of view, the term denotes the state of not belonging to any of the monotheistic religions. In ancient epochs such as antiquity and the Middle Ages , it was used disparagingly towards non-religious people. The lyrics refer to this term, which was initially negatively influenced. The author generalizes the term and extends it by "turning away from mainstream belief" . One way of interpreting this is that all people who are broken or injured in any way, i.e. who have lost faith in better times, are pagans.
