history

Halestorm was founded in 1997/1998 by Elizabeth "Lzzy" Hale ( guitar , vocals , piano ) and her brother Arejay Hale ( drums ). The siblings and their father ( bass ) had their first appearances in the vicinity of their hometown. Inspired by rock bands of the 1970s and 80s such as Alice Cooper , Van Halen and Cinderella , Halestorm released the album Forecast for the Future in 1997 . Numerous other appearances and publications followed. In 2003 guitarist Joe Hottinger joined the band. Bassist Josh Smith has been part of the line-up since June 2004.

In 2005 Halestorm was signed by Atlantic Records . This was followed by tours through the United States, including the SnoCore Tour 2006 with Seether , Shinedown and Flyleaf . In April 2006 the live EP One & Done was released . The debut album Halestorm was released in the US on April 28, 2009 and reached number 40 on the US charts. The first two singles I Get Off and It's Not You reached top 20 positions in the US rock charts. With a delay of over a year, the album was also released in Germany on May 21, 2010 via Warner Music Germany .

In March 2010, Halestorm first appeared in Germany in the opening act for Theory of a Deadman . In June she performed at Rock im Park and Rock am Ring . In November 2010 Halestorm toured Europe with Disturbed , Papa Roach and Buckcherry as part of the Taste of Chaos Tour . After appearing at the twin festival Rock am Ring / Rock im Park in 2010, they performed again at the two sold-out rock events in 2012. In spring 2012 Halestorm were on tour in Germany with Shinedown , in October 2012 the first headlining tour took place, which was continued in 2014 due to the great success.

In 2013 the band won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance for the song Love Bites (So Do I) . In 2014 they covered the song Straight Through the Heart for the memorial album This Is Your Life , which mainly contains songs performed by Ronnie James Dio . The band has released EPs with cover versions of well-known songs by various artists, for example Pat Benatar , Heart , AC / DC , Lady Gaga and Whitesnake at regular intervals . In January 2017 the third EP of this kind was released, from which the song Still of the Night was extracted in advance .

On July 27, 2018, the band released their fourth studio album, Vicious . The first single Uncomfortable was nominated for Best Rock Performance at the Grammy Awards 2019 . However, the award went posthumously to Chris Cornell .
