Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance , in German "Grammy Award for the best rock performance", is a music prize that has been awarded at the annual Grammy Awards since 2012 . The award goes to artists for new vocal or instrumental solos as well as duet or band performances from the field of rock music .

For the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance, the Grammys awarded until 2011 for Best Rock Instrumental Performance , Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals and Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance were merged. Since 2014, the hard rock music sector has also been decoupled from the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance and assigned to this category, while performances from the Metal sector are again awarded in their own Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance category.

All awards in this category have so far been given to American artists. The most frequent nominations went to the Alabama Shakes , which were nominated three times and also received the award in 2016. The Black Keys , the Foo Fighters and Jack White each received two nominations and one award ; Coldplay has also been nominated twice, but has not yet won the award.
