Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song , in German "Grammy Award for the best contemporary Christian pop music song", is a music prize that was awarded from 2012 to 2014 by the American Recording Academy in the field of Christian pop music .

History and background

Since 1959, the Grammy Awards are presented annually in numerous categories by the Recording Academy in the United States to recognize artistic achievement, technical competence, and overall excellence regardless of album sales or chart position.

One of these categories was the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song . The award went to the songwriter and not to the interpreter of the song. The award was first presented at the annual Grammy Awards ceremony in 2012. Since this year the Recording Academy differentiates between gospel music and Christian pop music (in English: Contemporary Christian Music).

The Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Song category was only awarded for three years and was integrated into the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance / Song category from 2015 .
