Grammy Award for Best Urban Contemporary Album

The Grammy Award for Best Urban Contemporary Album (in German about "Grammy Award for the Best Urban Contemporary Album") is a music prize that has been awarded at the annual Grammy Awards since 2013. The award is given to performances from the music field Contemporary Rhythm & Blues (Contemporary R&B, i.e. contemporary Rhythm & Blues), which means that the prize is in the field of Rhythm and Blues .

Background and story

The Grammy Awards (actually Grammophone Awards), which have been presented since 1958, are presented annually in numerous categories by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) in the United States of America for artistic achievement, technical competence and excellent overall performance regardless of the album - Honor sales or chart position. The award is given for high-quality albums from the contemporary R&B music field.

The Grammy Award for Best Urban Contemporary Album is one of the three Grammys that were awarded for the first time in 2013. According to his description, it is given to albums whose content consists of at least 51% newly recorded and R&B vocal parts. In addition, this category should primarily contain the works of musicians who concentrate primarily on contemporary aspects of R&B and can contain elements of urban pop, urban euro pop, urban rock and urban alternative.
