Christopher Eric "Chris" Dave (born November 8, 1973 in Houston ) is an American funk and fusion musician ( drums , composition ). According to Drummerworld , he can adapt to any musical environment and is one of the most respected and sought-after musicians of his generation.

Live and act

Dave, like many musicians, started playing in church. In addition to gospel music , he attributes the greatest influence on him to jazz , which he got to know through his father while listening to records together. He graduated from Houston High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and then went to Howard University in Washington DC, where he met producers and former Prince partners Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis . Through this mediated he began to play in the R&B band Mint Condition, to which he belonged for several years and with which he denied the Janet Jackson World Tour . For several years he was part of Robert Glasper's trio or experiment , and then accompanied Utada Hikaru . His recent activities include playing drums on Adele's Grammy-nominated album 21 and Maxwell's Grammy-winning album BLACKsummers Night . In 2013 he recorded with bassist Pino Palladino , guitarists Isaiah Sharkey and Tim Stewart and singers Yasiin Bey and Stokley Williams, a mixtape entitled Chris Dave and the Drumhedz ; With a contract with Blue Note Records , he recorded his debut album in 2017 with these drumhedz and a supporting cast of 50 instrumentalists, singers and rappers, including Williams, Tweet, Bilal and Anderson Paak .
