Jhené Aiko
Jhené Aiko (born March 16, 1988 in Los Angeles ; full name Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo ) is an American R&B singer.
Career
Jhené Aiko comes from a musical family. Two of her older sisters sang in a girl group, she herself appeared in music videos as a teenager and was a background singer for the boy group B2K in the early 2000s .
After she finished school, she released her first own mixtape in 2011, entitled Sailing Soul (s) . She had written the songs on it herself and received prominent support from Drake , Kanye West and Gucci Mane, among others . She signed a record deal with Def Jam and released the first single 3:16 AM in 2012 . The breakthrough came with two collaborations the following year. She was a guest singer on Big Sean's single Beware , made it into the top 40 of the US charts and achieved gold status. From Time by Drake, in which she also participated, was even an international chart hit . In November she released the EP Sail Out , which entered the US album charts at number 8 and brought her gold. It contained the song The Worst , which became her first own chart hit and even became a million seller.
In September 2014, Jhené Aiko's debut album Souled Out was released . It topped the R&B charts and came in at number 3 on the official charts. It didn't bring her another hit single, but this year she had two successful collaborations with Chris Brown and Omarion , the Omarion single Post to Be sold three million times.
In 2016 she teamed up again with Big Sean. They recorded a joint album of jointly written songs, album and project name were Twenty88 . The album was released in early April and took her to the top of the R&B charts and number 5 on the album charts for the second time.
In September 2017 Jhené Aiko released the album Trip . Big Sean also worked on this work. While We're Young was released in advance as the first single and a 20-minute short film was also released, which uses pieces from the album as a soundtrack. In October, she got a Big Sean tattoo on her left arm.
