Grammy Award for Best Blues Album

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Grammy Award for Best Blues Album , in German "Grammy Award for the Best Blues Album", is a music prize that was awarded from 2012 to 2016 at the annual Grammy Awards . The award went to artists for albums in the field of blues music . For the Grammy Award for Best Blues Album, the Grammies awarded until 2011 for Best Contemporary Blues Album and Best Traditional Blues Album were merged, as NARAS wanted to significantly reduce the number of categories and in some cases abolish the separation of vocal and instrumental performances in the categories. From the Grammy Awards, it was split again into the two original categories

The award was given to albums that consist of at least 51% of the playing time new recordings from the field of blues music.

The award was only given to American artists, with the first award to Tedeschi Trucks Band being the only one so far to a blues band. Charlie Musselwhite is the only musician to have been nominated twice, both times with other musicians and both times at the 2014 Grammy Awards.
