Warren Haynes (born April 6, 1960 in Asheville , North Carolina ) is an American rock and blues guitarist, singer and songwriter and long-time member of the Allman Brothers Band .
Career
His collaboration with Dickey Betts began around 1987 , which in 1988 led to the release of the album Pattern Disruptive . At the reunion of the Allman Brothers in 1989, Betts took him as the second guitarist. It was here that the first recordings with the Allman Brothers, such as B. the album Where It All Begins . In 1994, Warren Haynes founded the blues rock band Gov't Mule with the then Allman Brothers band bassist Allen Woody and Dickey Betts band drummer Matt Abts . Haynes is the founder of the Evil Teen Records label . Rolling Stone Magazine's David Fricke voted Warren Haynes 23rd out of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.
Since 1997 Haynes has worked on various band projects with former Grateful Dead musicians, such as B. Phil Lesh & Friends , participated. He has also been singing and playing guitar in the successor group The Dead since 2004 . As part of this activity, there was also a show for the then US presidential candidate Barack Obama . After the election, The Dead performed at one of the official inauguration balls.
At the same time as his album Ashes & Dust , released in 2015, Haynes, accompanied by the Ashes & Dust Band , has embarked on a world tour. The Ashes & Dust Band consists of the bluegrass trio Chessboxer and the drummer Jeff Sipe .
