Grammy Award for Best Rock Song
The Grammy Award for Best Rock Song , in German "Grammy Award for the best rock song ", is a music prize that has been awarded at the annual Grammy Awards since 1992 . The award songwriter for high quality songs from the field of rock music . The first award was to the British musician Sting in 1992 and the most frequently received it was Bruce Springsteen , who has received four awards so far.
Background and story
The Grammy Awards (actually Grammophone Awards), which have been presented since 1958, are presented annually in numerous categories by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) in the United States of America for artistic achievement, technical competence and excellent overall performance regardless of the album - Honor sales or chart position.
Grammy Award for Best Rock Song is given exclusively to songwriters, whereby new songs (with regard to melody and lyrics) or songs that were first noticed during the nomination period are taken into account according to the category description. Songs with conspicuous samples of other pieces of music and interpolations of a main theme are not taken into account.

The musician Sting received it for the first time in 1992 for The Soul Cages . Bruce Springsteen has won this award four times to date, making it top of the list of the most common Grammy winners in this category. The award went twice to Alanis Morissette and the bands Red Hot Chili Peppers and U2 . The most common gains were awarded to American artist, with the two victories of Alanis Morissette and the award to Neil Young in 2011 but the price was already three times on Canadian, with the two victories of U2 twice Irish and with Sting and Eric Clapton twice to British artists.
In four cases, an artist or a group was nominated twice in the same year. The band Aerosmith was nominated in 1994 with Cryin ' and Livin' on the Edge (both from the album Get a Grip ) and Melissa Etheridge in 1995 with Come to My Window and I'm the Only One (both from the album Yes I Am ). The Wallflowers won 1998 with One Headlight and were also nominated for The Difference (both from the album Bringing Down the Horse ) and the band U2 was nominated in 2002 with the songs Elevation and Walk On (both from the album All That You Can't Leave Behind ) . Melissa Etheridge, Muse and Aerosmith also share the position for the most frequent nominations without a win, each nominated three times.
