Eric Adam Avery (born April 25, 1965 in Los Angeles ) is an American bassist and guitarist. He was best known as a founding member of the alternative rock band Jane's Addiction , in which he played from the beginning around 1985 to 1991. In 2008 he rejoined the band, but left again two years later. As a guest bass player, he was often seen on tour alongside Garbage . He also released two albums as a solo musician, titled Help Wanted (2008) and Life. Time. (2013).
Eric is the son of actor Brian Avery , who became famous as Carl Smith with the film The Graduation in 1967 .
