Stephen Perkins
Stephen Perkins (born September 13, 1967 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American drummer , percussionist and songwriter .
He is a founding member of the rock bands Jane’s Addiction and Porno for Pyros . In addition to his work with these bands, he also devoted himself to other projects. In the early 1990s he played with members of the Suicidal Tendencies on Infectious Grooves , as a tour drummer in Tommy Lee's band Methods of Mayhem , on the debut album of Rage Against the Machine , on One Hot Minute by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and on The Downward Spiral from Nine Inch Nails . From 1997 he worked a. a. with former Minutemen bassist Mike Watt in the experimental all-star project Banyan . In the same year there was the first of several reunions of Jane's Addiction, in which he always participated. After the band broke up in 2004, he founded the rock band The Panic Channel with singer Steve Isaacs and ex-colleagues from Jane's Addiction without their singer Perry Farrell . In 2010 he participated as a drummer in the super group Hellflower , which consists of members from Orgy and (hed) pe .
His style is characterized by folkloric, v. a. African, elements.
