One Hot Minute is a funk rock album by the Red Hot Chili Peppers from 1995.
background
The album was recorded with guitarist Dave Navarro , who was previously a member of Jane's Addiction . Due to his guitar sound the sound changed considerably, which caused divided reactions from the fan base due to the stylistic difference to previous albums. The album contains the single My Friends . The piece met with approval as a ballad; it was in the Billboard charts twice at number 1. In contrast to the ballad is the song Warped , also a single release.
Funk remained an important - albeit reduced - element of the album, as can be heard on Airplane and Walkabout . The former features a children's choir made up of classmates from Michael Balzary's daughter Clara. They can also be seen in the video. In addition to this children's choir, there were a number of other musical guests, including a. Navarro's former bandmate Stephen Perkins as a percussionist, as well as Navarro's little brother with his insert (baby cry) in One Big Mob .
The song Transcending was written for actor and musician River Phoenix , who died of a cocaine overdose in Johnny Depp's Club Viper Room in 1993 .
The pieces from this record were never played live again after Navarro left the guitarist, with the exception of Pea , where only Flea's bass and vocals can be heard, and with the exception of Airplane , which is played by Flea . B. was played again at the Meadows Festival in 2017 while Josh Klinghoffer was the band's guitarist. Navarro's successor and predecessor John Frusciante , however, emphasized that he did not want to play songs from the band's Navarro phase.
