This discography is an overview of the musical works of the American rock - band Red Hot Chili Peppers . According to sources, they have sold more than 80 million records in their careers, making them one of the most successful bands of all time . In total, the band received awards for over 66.1 million records sold. In their homeland alone , according to the record awards , they sold over 33.6 million records. The band's most successful release is their seventh studio album, Californication, with around 16.4 million sales. In Germany, the group has been able to sell more than three million records to date, with the album Californication being the most successful release in Germany with over 750,000 units sold.
