Mother's Milk is a music album by Red Hot Chili Peppers that was released in August 1989.
The fourth album was originally planned as The Rockin 'Freakapotamus , which is the name of the Red Hot Chili Peppers fan club these days. After the death of Hillel Slovak in 1988 and the related exit of Jack Irons , however, the recordings were stopped.
In 1989, after a one-year break, the recordings were continued with Chad Smith and John Frusciante and Mother's Milk was released in August 1989. Knock Me Down , which is dedicated to the late guitarist Hillel Slovak, and Higher Ground , a cover version of an old Stevie Wonder hit , were released as singles in 1989 . Furthermore, the also on the soundtrack to 1990 was Say Anything located Taste the Pain published. The album also includes a second cover version: Fire by Jimi Hendrix . This song was already released on the Abbey Road EP and recorded in the old line-up (with Jack Irons and Hillel Slovak). Punk Rock Classic's outro is a nod to Sweet Child o 'Mine by Guns N' Roses . In 1990 the album reached gold status and took the band on tour to Europe again.
