Jack Sherman (born January 18, 1956 in Miami , † August 18, 2020 ) was an American studio musician .

He gained fame above all as a transitional guitarist in the band Red Hot Chili Peppers , when their guitarist Hillel Slovak temporarily left the band in 1984 to join his other band What Is This? to dedicate. The collaboration lasted for the recordings for the album The Red Hot Chili Peppers and the accompanying tour, after which Hillel Slovak took his place again with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Furthermore, Sherman worked with artists such as Bob Dylan , Barry Goldberg , George Clinton , Charlie Sexton , Peter Case , John Hiatt , Gerry Goffin , and Tonio K . He was a member of the band In From the Cold .
