By the Way ( English for “ by the way” or “by the way ”) is a song by the American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers . The song is the first single from their eighth studio album of the same name, By the Way, and was released on June 10, 2002.

By the Way is subliminally about love for a woman. Musically, the song alternates between the melodious chorus and the fast, rocky verses.

By the Way was produced by the American music producer Rick Rubin . The four band members Flea , John Frusciante , Anthony Kiedis and Chad Smith acted as authors .
Music video
In the to By the Way twisted music video that the Mexican film Amores Perros was inspired, the US led director duo Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris directed. The video has over 140 million views on YouTube (as of April 2020).
At the beginning, singer Anthony Kiedis gets into a taxi . The taxi driver (played by Dave Sheridan ) is a fan of the band and recognizes him. To please Kiedis, he puts the single By the Way in the car's CD player. While the taxi driver sings along, he speeds through the streets of Los Angeles and locks the car doors. When Kiedis reaches for his cell phone to call for help, the driver brakes so hard that the phone flies forward. The fast journey continues to a bridge under which the taxi stops. Now the driver gets out and begins to dance wildly to the song in front of Kiedis. Meanwhile, the singer uses a pager to text his bandmates Flea and John Frusciante (who are drinking coffee together) that he has been kidnapped. At first they think it's a joke, but after his second message in the car, they set off to save him. There is a chase through the streets of the city, at the end of which Kiedis breaks the window and jumps through the window into his colleagues' car. At the end of the video, fourth band member Chad Smith , who hadn't noticed any of this, gets into the exact same taxi.

Chart successes
By the Way entered the German charts at number 22 on July 8, 2002 and was in the top 100 for a total of 13 weeks. The song was particularly successful in Italy, where it topped the charts. In addition, the song reached the top 10 in the United Kingdom, Finland, Spain, Norway, Denmark, Australia, Austria, Sweden and Switzerland, among others.
