Sully Erna
Salvatore Paul "Sully" Erna (born February 7, 1968 in Lawrence , Massachusetts ) is an American singer , guitarist and drummer . He is the singer in the band Godsmack and previously played with Strip Mind and Meliah Rage .
Career
Erna started playing drums at the age of three. As a teenager he played in various bands before moving to North Carolina with his mother when he was 18 . In 1992 he joined the band Meliah Rage, which he left a few years later. Some demo recordings with Erna were released in 2002 under the title Unfinished Business . At the same time he played with the band Strip Mind, which released their only album What's in Your Mouth in 1993.
In 1995 Erna founded the band Godsmack, where he also took over the vocals. Inevitably, Erna also played the drums on the debut album All Wound Up , released in 1997 as a self-pressed release , after the actual drummer Joe Darko left the band shortly before the recordings. With the arrival of Tommy Stewart, Erna fully concentrated on singing and occasionally appears as a guitarist and harmonica player . With Godsmack, Erna has released five studio albums to date and sold more than 20 million albums worldwide. The band was nominated four times for a Grammy Award .
Erna has been working as a solo artist since 2006 and released his first solo album Avalon in 2010 . In addition, Erna was seen in the TV shows Criss Angel Mindfreak and Dirt . In 2009 he had a guest appearance in the music video White Trash Circus by Mötley Crüe . Two years earlier, Erna published his autobiography The Path We Choose . Sully Erna is a follower of the " natural religion " Wicca .
