The Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance , in German "Grammy Award for the best hard rock / metal performance", was a music prize that was awarded in 2012 and 2013 at the annual Grammy Awards . The award went to artists for new vocal or instrumental solos as well as duet or band performances from the fields of hard rock and metal .

Background and story

For the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock / Metal Performance, the Grammies awarded until 2011 for Best Hard Rock Performance , Best Metal Performance and Best Rock Instrumental Performance were merged, before the award was again given its own category, Best Metal Performance for Metal and the Best category, from 2014 Rock performance has been assigned for Hard Rock.
