The Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media , in German "Grammy Award for the best compiled soundtrack for visual media", is a music prize that has been awarded by the American Recording Academy since 2000 . The award goes to the artists and producers of the soundtrack.

History and background

Since 1959, the Grammy Awards are presented annually in numerous categories by the Recording Academy in the United States to recognize artistic achievement, technical competence, and overall excellence regardless of album sales or chart position.

One of these categories is the Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media . The prize has been awarded since 2000 and went to Phil Collins and Mark Mancina as artists and Phil Collins as producer for the soundtrack for the cartoon Tarzan in the first year .

In the first year the award was called the Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack Album and from 2001 to 2011 the Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Pictures, Television or Other Visual Media . Since 2012 the award has been called the Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media .

The award goes to the musicians and producers of the soundtrack. If these are not available, the price goes to the person who is actively responsible for the musical direction of the album.
