Walk the Line is the soundtrack to the film of the same name, Walk the Line, about the life of Johnny Cash from 2005. The album was released by Wind-Up Records and won a Grammy in 2007 in the category “Best Compiled Soundtrack Album for Film, Television or Visual Media ".
Nine songs, a large part of the songs, are sung by Joaquin Phoenix , who plays Cash in the film. Reese Witherspoon contributed four pieces as June Carter , Tyler Hilton two and Waylon Payne , Johnathan Rice and Shooter Jennings one each.
As a bonus, the CD contains two scenes that did not make it into the final film version. In one scene, Joaquin Phoenix sings rock and roll Ruby , and another scene takes place just before the Jackson gig. Some songs, such as the Cocaine Blues , can be heard in a different version than in the film.
The album went platinum in the US in 2006 and silver in the UK in 2013.
