T Bone Burnett
Joseph Henry "T Bone" Burnett (born January 14, 1948 in St. Louis ) is an American rock singer , guitarist and music producer .
Career
Burnett grew up in Fort Worth , Texas , where he came into contact with blues and R&B music. He opened a recording studio and began performing with various blues bands in the area. In the early 1970s he moved to Los Angeles , where he produced sessions for Glen Clark and Delbert McClinton . In 1972 he released his solo debut The B-52 Band & the Fabulous Skylarks .
Burnett then toured for a while with Delaney & Bonnie , and later with Bob Dylan in his Rolling Thunder Revue, among others . In 1976 he founded The Alpha Band with David Mansfield and Steve Soles , colleagues from Dylan's backing group , which released three albums in 1977 and 1978 and then broke up.
Burnett now focused on his solo career, and in 1980 his second solo work Truth Decay appeared . He moved to Warner Brothers Records , where he recorded the EP Trap Door in 1982 . In 1983 the album Proof through the Night followed, on which Pete Townshend , Ry Cooder and Richard Thompson can be heard as guests. In 1984 Behind the Trap Door came out as guest musicians with Thompson, Bono and Bob Neuwirth .
After that, Burnett only worked as a producer for a while. In 1984 he worked with Los Lobos on How Will the Wolf Survive? together, followed in 1985 by Marshall Crenshaws Downtown . In the same year he formed the duo The Coward Brothers with Elvis Costello , they recorded the single The People's Limousine . In 1986 the productions of Costello's Blood & Chocolate and King of America, Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams by the BoDeans and the album named after him by Peter Case followed, as well as a few appearances as guest musicians, including on Bob Dylan's Knocked Out Loaded . He also released another solo LP, simply called T Bone Burnett .
1987 began a permanent collaboration with the singer Sam Phillips , from which the Burnett-produced LP The Turning emerged . The Indescribable Wow followed in 1987 and Cruel Inventions in 1991 . Before the album was released, Phillips and Burnett got married. He also produced all of her later works. In 1988, in addition to the productions with The Talking Animals , he released another solo album, followed by Criminal under My Own Hat in 1992 .
The Coen brothers hired him to produce the soundtrack for the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? , Who came to the cinema in the year 2000th The soundtrack pays homage to the musical traditions of rural America and was awarded three Grammys . The Coens also engaged Burnett for Inside Llewyn Davis (2013).
In 2005 he was responsible for the film music for the Johnny Cash biography Walk the Line by director James Mangold . After a long break as a solo artist, Burnett returned in 2006 with a new album. He released The True False Identity, his first solo work in 14 years. At the same time, a best-of album was released with the double CD Twenty-Twenty . In 2007 Burnett produced the album Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss .
In May 2008, Burnett released another solo album, Tooth of Crime . This is a collaboration with the playwright Sam Shepard , who began work on the play of the same name in New York in 1996.

Awards
Burnett was nominated twice for an Oscar , in 2004 together with Elvis Costello for the song The Scarlet Tide from On the Road to Cold Mountain and in 2010 together with Ryan Bingham for The Weary Kind from Crazy Heart , which earned him a Golden Globe and an Oscar. He has also received several Grammy awards as a producer .
