Waylon Malloy Payne (born April 5, 1972 ) is an American country singer and actor.

Life

Childhood and youth

Waylon Payne is the son of country singer Sammi Smith and guitarist Jody Payne, who plays in Willie Nelson's backing band. His mother took him on tours since he was four years old, and during the winter he lived with his aunt and uncle in Dallas .

Career

He had already gained his first stage experience with his mother. He then performed in various clubs in Los Angeles . He played various classics of country music, especially titles from his idols Hank Williams , Johnny Cash and George Jones , but also current titles such as Dwight Yoakam's . Through the mediation of Willie Nelson, Payne received a record deal with Republic / Universal. In 2004 he released his first album The Drifter . Payne is also active as an actor.
