content

The film accompanies Glen Campbell on his farewell tour for more than a year at 151 concerts starting in autumn 2011, after his Alzheimer's diagnosis was announced in the summer of this year. The film crew was active both during the tour and in the private sphere of Campbell. For example, the film shows Campbell watching a private video with one of his wives and not remembering them. In addition to the press, his doctors, who are consulted in the run-up to the concert series, also have their say. The current events are underlaid with archive recordings of his life.

The recordings of his performances during the tour make it clear that there are already some cognitive limitations.

The film should be understood as an appeal to an intensified search for a cure.

Soundtrack

Accompanying the film, Campbell's last studio recording " I'm Not Gonna Miss You " was released as part of the soundtrack . This title was nominated in the category “best soundtrack” at the 2015 Academy Awards and has received several other awards. Along with "I'm Not Gonna Miss You" four more songs were released:

  • "Gentle on My Mind"
  • "Home Again"
  • "Wichita Lineman"
  • "A Better Place"

The entire soundtrack then comprised ten tracks, some of which were recorded with the studio band The Wrecking Crew .
