Ray (film)
Ray is an American drama by Taylor Hackford from the year 2004 . The film is a biography about the soul legend Ray Charles (1930-2004), played by Jamie Foxx .

The film depicts the childhood of Ray Charles Robinson, his blindness and the beginning of his musical career in 1947. It deals with his rise, his unique career, his marriage, the children, the lovers and his heroin addiction. The film ends shortly after his rehab in the late 1970s.
Emergence
Years of planning and a very long preparation phase preceded the beginning of the film. Ray Charles personally accompanied the making of the film. Large parts of the film were therefore made according to the artist's own ideas. Ray Charles passed away shortly before the end of filming in June 2004. So he couldn't see the finished film anymore.
